BUSY, BUSY, BUSY

I've been doing waaayyy too many things lately. I'm gonna have to step back and decide which one is gonna get done first. My house cleaning has taken a back seat to all my projects. This weekend is going to be nothing but cleaning. (yuk) I have a craft show next weekend and I know I'm gonna be busy making things and there won't be any time to clean. So if I'm gonna clean first then I can put all my time into making things for the show.

Here's a few things that I have been up to.........

On my way to a garage sale I drove by this site. Not sure why they are watering the field cuz we've had plenty of rain around here? Kinda seems like a waste to me.

After taking the pictures of the 'sprinkler', I had to stop for a train. Some of the cars were 'decorated' elaborately. I guess that's one way to advertise your talent. (lol) Some of the cars were really pretty.

Some call these selvedges and some call them mill ends. I call them potential rugs. I have a loom and I weave these into rag rugs. They turn out fluffy. They've been a big hit at the craft shows. The rag rugs made out of old blue jeans are still a staple tho. I've got plenty of blue jeans from family and friends but I don't have the time to cut them up, sew together and then weave them so I'm going the faster and easier route.

Oops, I almost forgot to take a before picture. I started to prime and then remembered to take a picture.
This is my sons old room. We have two bedrooms upstairs and I chose to use my sons bedroom for my craft room. We painted it gray and black for him several years ago. The other bedroom will be for him if he chooses to come back. But in the meantime it will double as the guest room. I'll show pictures of that room when I get a chance to do something with it.

This is the embossed wallpaper that is in my soon to be craft room. I wanted light colors to make the room bright and cheery but I'm not liking how it turned out. I've done a hallway with an embossed wallpaper and it turned out fabulous, but this one didn't. Maybe the colors are too closely related. This picture may look okay but the overall appearance of the room doesn't. So I just gave up on the room for now. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I get back to it.

This is a quick project I did the other day. The apple plaque is a piece of slate. I put the two together and this is how it turned out.....

I just turned the slate over and put it on top of the little table (or maybe it's a plant stand, I don't know). The two taller flowers in the vase are made of glass and the shorter one is made of metal.

Wow, I'm getting tired just recapping on what I've been doing. I think I better stop there. I had better get to work now.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ...........

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Mom and Dad. Mom's day was March 19 and Dad's day is today. I guess I could mention that mine was last week on the 8th.

I celebrate all three of ours in my own personal way. You see, I lost my mom on September 4, 1969 when I was only 5 years old. Then I lost my dad on July 21, 1970 and I was only 6 years old. I went to live with my grandparents (dad's parents). They were the best grandparents in the world. I'll be posting about them another time, tho. Today is a day to celebrate our birthday's. I tend to pick April 15th to celebrate. I think it's because of being the last day of tax day and I hate to think about tax day. Taxes have been on my mind for 2 1/2 months and I don't want to think about it no more!!!(lol)

My dad was the second child for my grandparents and their only boy. He was momma's boy and his sister was daddy's girl. He was born at 12:10 pm on April 15, 1942. Happy Birthday Dad

My mom was the 7th child for her parents. And then there was 2 more after her. How my grandma took care of all of them I don't know. Mom was born at 10:45 pm on March 19, 1942. Happy Birthday Mom.

Me, I was the second child for my parents. Born at 8:34 am on April 8, 1964. My parents first child was a boy born 2 years before me but passed away shortly after birth. Hey, how about a big Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Here's a couple more pictures of my Mom and Dad.

Look at that hair!! What about that t.v.? (ha,ha) The picture above the t.v. is me. Mom was only 5'2"(5'5" with that hair) and weighed maybe 90lbs. Tiny little thing. My daughter takes after her. I wish I did.(lol)

Look at that handsome man!!!! (My son has that same widows-peak.) I'm surprised he didn't have a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. I'll bet Mom made sure he didn't. (ha,ha) As tiny as my mom was, she could really push this 6'2" 200lb man around. (lol)

I also need to say Happy Birthday to a couple more people. My cousins daughter (dads grand niece), Jessica, was born on this day. Jessica is expecting her second baby sometime in May. I think she's 24 today. And my husbands cousin, Daryll, turned 51 today. Happy Birthday you guys.

FYI: Midnight is the deadline. Have you all sent in your taxes!!!

UNDER THE WEATHER

This is where I spent Monday thru Thursday last week. I had strept throat. That is one thing I don't ever want again!!! As you may remember, I had granddaughter #2 spend the night. When daughter brought her, she wasn't feeling good. Just assumed it was a cold. Monday she want to the doctor and it was strept throat. Monday is when I started feeling bad. Tuesday I went to the doctor and sure enough, I had it too. I slept right thru tuesday and wednesday. Thursday was much better. Friday better yet but the sinus' decided they had to show off too. So all weekend I've been blowing and wiping my nose. I'm starting to look like Rudolph!!

This week is for playing catch-up. I have housework and a show to get ready for. A friend puts on a benefit car show for "Multiple Sclerosis". She asked me if I wanted to set up a booth. She hasn't done the craft thing in the past and not sure how it will go. The last time I talked to her, I was the only one that was going to be setting up. That's okay. Anything for a friend. Our small little town doesn't usually have craft shows, so maybe she's on to something. I just may have to call on some fellow venders to help her out.

I must go now. The housewife thing is calling me.
